Hi from Gardenstown Church Sunday School

We have a lot to thank God for in Sunday School. Over the past few years, we have seen significant growth in numbers, from a low of around 12 children, who were all from Church attending families, to our present roll of over 40!

From a cross section of the local community the children attending are from, pre-school age up to early secondary school. This itself presents challenges to the leaders and teachers in finding ways in teaching such a wide range of ages.

The material we use for our programme is Scripture Unions’ SALT series, which gives a lot of practical help with crafts, illustrations, singing and drama suggestions, reinforcing the lessons from God's word.

It is encouraging to us, as leaders of the Sunday School, to see the children enjoy their time with us and absorb much of what is being learned together.

Our teachers all know and love the Lord Jesus and have children of their own. Some also have nationally recognised training and qualifications in child care.

The highlights of our year in Sunday School are; the Christmas Social, when the children present the Christmas message in song or drama, as part of a larger programme of Christmas celebrations, and the Sunday school picnic. Usually held in June, the picnic is a whole church outing, where there is a great deal of fun and fellowship enjoyed by all ages.

The Sunday school is recognised by all in the church as a very important part of our witness and work in the community. We value your prayers and support.

As leaders, we all realise that we are far from the ‘finished article’ in Gods’ sight, but we do enjoy learning along with the children what he wants us to know, and our desire in Sunday School is ‘To Know Him and Make Him Known’.

We would give a very warm welcome to you and your children, so please come along to the church on the hill, at 2pm on Sundays’ (during school terms) and by all means stay and see what Sunday School is all about.
